Education

The Twin Rivers Region offers strong, accessible education options that support learners at every stage of life—from early childhood through post‑secondary education and lifelong learning. Families across the region benefit from high‑quality K–12 education delivered locally, complemented by access to specialized programs, post‑secondary institutions, and skills training opportunities within a short commute.

Kindergarten to Grade 12 Education
K–12 education throughout the Twin Rivers Region is provided primarily through Prairie Spirit School Division, a public school division serving rural communities surrounding Saskatoon. Prairie Spirit operates schools in Duck Lake, Hague, Hepburn, Rosthern, and Waldheim, offering full K–12 programming, student supports, transportation services, and extracurricular opportunities that reflect the needs of rural learners.

Schools in the region are known for smaller class sizes, strong community involvement, and personalized learning environments, allowing students to thrive academically while staying connected to their home communities. Students also have access to division‑wide supports and programming, including student wellness initiatives, learning technology, and inclusive education services.

Independent & Alternative Education Options
In addition to public schools, the region is home to independent secondary education options, including Rosthern Junior College (RJC). RJC offers Grades 9–12 programming, with both day-student and boarding options, and draws students from across the region and beyond. This provides families with additional choice for faith-based and values-focused education.

Students also have access to online learning options through Saskatchewan-wide distance education programs, allowing flexibility for families seeking alternative delivery models.

Post-Secondary & Skills Training Access
Residents of the Twin Rivers Region benefit from proximity to post-secondary institutions, technical training, and adult education opportunities in nearby centres such as Saskatoon and Humboldt. These institutions offer a wide range of certificate, diploma, degree, and apprenticeship programs, supporting workforce development, career transitions, and lifelong learning.
